In 2017, the University of Burgundy appeared for the 1st time in the overall ranking (701 – 800th place).
It particularly stood out in two areas:
- 2nd French university in Food Science (world ranking: 76 -100)
- 2nd French university in Sports Science (world ranking: 101 – 150). This confirms the position obtained for the 1st time in 2016.
Specializing in the analysis of institutions’ research potential, this year’s Shanghai ranking list distinguishes 800 institutions (including only 23 in France) from the 17,000 universities listed worldwide on the basis of 4 criteria: quality of teaching, quality of the institution, publications and size of the institution.

This benchmark international ranking puts uB in 623rd position out of more than 20,000 higher education and research establishments worldwide. The uB ranks 29th nationally.

For 2020, the ranking is based on the 2015/2018 period. The UBE is ranked 1136th.
After 2014, 2015 and 2017, the UBE appears for the 4th time in this prestigious worldwide ranking of higher education and research establishments. It is ranked 640th out of 902 institutions from 55 countries (649th in 2017). It also ranks 17th nationally.
The Leiden ranking is based on the number of scientific publications, and in particular those that are the most cited worldwide.
Taking all categories together, the UBE ranks 352nd worldwide out of 750 institutions included in the 2015 rankings.
The UBE is ranked 23rd best university in the world in the “Earth and Environmental Sciences” category of the Leiden ranking. The University of Leiden (Netherlands) publishes an annual ranking of the world’s best universities in terms of publications.

World University Ranking – Times Higher Education
The UBE welcomes UBFC’s inclusion in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking.
This success follows the strong mobilization of uB and its partners to win I-SITE in January 2016. This good news was also made possible by uB’s decision to drop out of the ranking, thus putting the collective in the spotlight.
In 2015, the UBE was listed for the 1st time in the prestigious Times Higher Education ranking, which recognizes the quality of research and teaching. This famous ranking lists the most recognized institutions on five continents, and analyzes criteria that cover a large part of the university’s missions (teaching and teaching environment; citations – research influence; research – volume, income and reputation – international dimension – staff, students and research).
For its entry among the 800 selected establishments, the UBE is among the Top 600. According to the selected criteria, it is among the top 16 French universities. It ranks 8th nationally among multidisciplinary universities.
Classement de l’Etudiant
- The Dijon campus offers a wide range of educational opportunities, contributing to the city’s reputation and ranking 11th in the Best Student Cities 2023-2024 ranking.

- The Dijon Campus ranks 22nd out of 70 universities in all disciplines. Students have the support they need to succeed: 70% of them are expected to graduate with a Master’s degree in 2021.
- UFR STAPS Dijon completes the podium, ranking 2nd nationally for masters degrees in Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities – STAPS

- The Dijon campus comes 8th in the ranking of the best Masters in Science and Health (out of 56): more than 8 out of ten students (82.1%) complete their Masters in two years. With 10.6 points, it is also the university with the highest positive added value.

- Students enrolled at the Dijon campus (17/60) are a great success! In the law and political science departments, 68.7% of them obtain their Master’s degree in two years. The rate of progression to M2 is also excellent. In all, 90.9% of students enrolled in M1 at the start of the 2020 academic year progressed to M2 at the start of the 2021 academic year.

- Master’s students in economics or AES at the Dijon campus (45/67) achieved results in excess of 70%. As for the M2 promotion rate, it is very positive: 90.9% of students enrolled in M1 in 2020 went on to M2 at the start of the 2021 academic year.

- The Dijon campus ranks 26th out of 68, with a two-year success rate of 63.4% for the master’s degree in art, literature, languages and social sciences.

Classement du Figaro Etudiant
In 17th place in this national ranking, the UBE stands out from other law schools. Students earn a significantly higher monthly salary on graduation (2,250 euros, compared with 2,520 euros at the Sorbonne and 3,000 euros at Assas for the latest graduating class surveyed).
