High-Level Artist

In order to support students who wish to reconcile their artistic practice with their studies, Université Bourgogne Europe has set up a special status for “High-level student artists..” This special status, formalized at meetings of the Education Commission and the Administrative Council, enables students to adjust their timetables so as to pursue their artistic passion while successfully completing their studies.

EAHN status at Université Bourgogne Europe

The special status for high-level artists (Etudiant(e) Artiste de Haut Niveau, EAHN)enables professional or semi-professional student artists to reconcile their artistic career with their academic project at the University of Burgundy. The artists concerned include musicians, dancers, actors, visual artists, etc., as well as those pursuing high-level artistic training at recognized institutions.

Conditions for obtaining EAHN status

To obtain EAHN status, you must:

  • Be recognized as a professional or semi-professional artist.
  • Pursue artistic training in parallel with university studies.
  • Other special situations may be accepted after consultation with the Pôle Culture.

Application and selection

How to apply

Interested students must submit an application by October 15 of each academic year, including :

  • Cover letter explaining the artistic project.
  • CV.
  • Copy of student card or registration certificate.
  • Proof of artistic level (diplomas, certificates).
  • Digital or paper portfolio.
  • Proof of hours of artistic practice.
  • Letters of recommendation (optional).

Application to be submitted electronically by October 15, 2024 to the Pôle Culture at pole-culture@u-bourgogne.fr.

Selection process

The High-Level Artist Commission (AHN) examines applications at the beginning of the academic semester. The Commission is made up of representatives of the Pôle Culture and teachers specialized in artistic disciplines, as well as external professionals who participate in an advisory capacity. The list of beneficiaries is drawn up by the University President and published two months after the start of the academic year.

Students with EAHN status benefit from a number of special arrangements:

  • Specific organization of timetables to reconcile artistic activity and studies.
  • Priority in the choice of tutorial and practical groups.
  • Special arrangements for internships and examinations.
  • Pedagogical support by a student tutor if necessary.

Obligations and renewal

EAHN obligations

EAHN students undertake to do the following:

  • Follow their academic project in coordination with their artistic project.
  • Inform their supervisor of rehearsals, residencies, etc.
  • Participate in artistic events organized on campus.
  • Contribute to the university’s cultural influence.

Renewal of status

Status must be renewed each year. In the event of non-compliance with the conditions enumerated above, the student may lose his/her status following a decision by the President of the University, on the advice of the AHN Commission.
