SOP 2025: 1000 children try their hand at Olympic and Paralympic sports at the UFR STAPS Dijon

As part of Olympic and Paralympic Week, Université Bourgogne Europe’s UFR STAPS Dijon welcomed 1,000 children from CM1, CM2 and 6ème to its facilities and in the Multiplex Hall to find out more about Olympic and Paralympic sports.
From 9am, the children came to take part in this fun-filled sports day, during which they were able to discover different Olympic and Paralympic sports. With the good weather also on board, the pupils let off steam, both indoors and outdoors, through a variety of activities including football, rugby and dance, as well as activities that are less well known to the general public, such as seated vortex throwing, blind combat and circus arts. Among the fifteen sports on show, there were also quizzes, an Olympic village and stands where children could discover the vast world of sport.
This day, held in coordination with the services of the Inspection d’Académie, gave nearly 1,000 pupils from 34 schools (20 classes of CM1 – 21 classes of CM2 – 3 classes of 6ème) the opportunity to try out a variety of sporting activities within UBE premises, in particular on the UFR STAPS Dijon site but also at the Multiplex Hall.
To mark the occasion, David MULLER, Director of National Education Services, Vanessa VAIZANT, Vice-President for Disability, Solidarity and Inclusion at Université Bourgogne Europe, and Hervé ASSADI, Director of Dijon – Le Creusot STAPS UFR, came to visit the pupils.
At the end of the day, the children were able to take part in the activities planned at the 11 venues, meet top-level sportsmen and women, exercise and learn about Olympic and Paralympic sport through interactive quizzes.
