International Women’s Day at UBE

On 10 March, Université Bourgogne Europe celebrated International Women’s Day in the presence of a diverse range of speakers. The event provided an opportunity to take a closer look at the various initiatives aimed at staff and students to combat sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

In his introduction, President Vincent Thomas recalled that ‘the university is a place of knowledge and should be exemplary in its ability to fight against all forms of discrimination’. He went on to outline UBE’s ambitions for 2025: ‘to strengthen and improve our actions in the fight against SGBV’.

Edith Salès-Wuillemin, vice-president in charge of QWL and gender equality at work, then went on to talk about the various initiatives offered by the UBE in favour of gender equality and the fight against SGBV.

Lola Cunin and Myriam Tetu, members of the ADEFO association, delivered a conference on the subject of ‘Human trafficking, students in precarious situations’. To conclude the morning session, Jean-Philippe Pierron, university professor and philosopher at UBE, led a round-table discussion on ‘How UBE combats SGBV’.

In the afternoon, Laura Lauvergeon and Elaura Pezard, lawyers from CIDFF Côte d’Or, presented their organisation and its legal framework.
