Opportunities for students
FORTHEM Alliance opportunities for students
What are the projects of our FORTHEM Alliance and how can our students benefit from them?
Every year, new Erasmus+ agreements are signed between the 9 FORTHEM partners, making it easy for students to construct a mobility pathway as part of an Erasmus exchange.
This means you can go abroad several times to one of our 8 FORTHEM partner universities, under simplified procedures: easier mobility for all levels of study.
To apply for this mobility scheme, follow the procedure described on the Studies abroad page.
Short-term mobility (all-expenses-paid study stays at partner universities)
- Collective: for a few days, you take part in a themed program with students from 8 other countries, often open to students from all disciplines (migration, interculturality, Europe…).
- Individual: you can spend up to 5 days at a FORTHEM partner university for an individual project (research for your dissertation, work on a joint project with other Alliance students, etc.).
- Spend a semester studying with a group of students from the nine universities, taking thematic courses based on one of the host university’s areas of expertise. These courses, inspired by a particular scientific field, are not reserved exclusively for students in the discipline in question, but are open to a wider student audience.
Summer universities
- Themed stays of several weeks organized at partner universities during the summer vacations.
- Facilities to promote language learning in the countries of the FORTHEM partner universities.
- Creation of language tandems between native students from our partner universities.
- Development of language mediation tools so that everyone can express themselves in their own language and converse in real time.
- Setting up a wide range of courses in English at each university to enable you to take part in an exchange program without necessarily knowing the local language.
- Creation of a European catalog of tutored projects.
- Creation of the FORTHEM Digital Academy, a virtual European campus that lets you take courses abroad without leaving Burgundy.
- You can apply for internships offered by our Alliance in conjunction with our partners. These internships are offered in the regions of our 9 FORTHEM universities and can take place in private companies, associations, laboratories, public bodies, etc. Specific internships in schools are also offered to students training to become teachers.
- Set up a civic engagement project, financially supported by the Alliance – the program of your project must be linked to the United Nations’ sustainable development goals, such as ecology, inequality, poverty, etc.
- You can receive support for your student association to develop a project with other associations from FORTHEM partner universities.
- You can become a FORTHEM ambassador and promote the Alliance to other students at the Université Bourgogne Europe.
- We will also be introducing a common student card for all Alliance students: the European Student Card.
The FORTHEM Labs are groups of experts working on seven research themes that address the challenges of today’s society.
- Food science
- Experiencing Europe
- Diversity and migration
- Multilingualism in school and higher education
- Digital transformation
- Climate and resources
- Resilience, life quality and demographic change
- Art and aesthetics in contemporary societies
- Cultural heritage
As a student, you can join these working groups in the form of:
- an internship as part of your course program;
- research work linked to your studies and earning ECTS credits;
- participation in events and short projects organized around Labs themes.
All these actions are being implemented progressively.
How can I benefit from FORTHEM Alliance projects?
- Visit the FORTHEM Alliance website – GET INVOLVED – click on the Students section, where you’ll find a detailed description of each opportunity, as well as information on how to apply for the schemes on offer.
- Check your university mailbox regularly – the UBE FORTHEM Unit will send you the most important information by e-mail (application forms for short mobility, calls for civic engagement projects, etc.).
- Take a look at the News and Agenda sections, where we’ll be publishing items relating to FORTHEM Alliance activities.
- Take part in the regular information events organized by the FORTHEM Unit.
- If necessary, contact the FORTHEM Unit at Université Bourgogne Europe.
FORTHEM actions, financially supported by the European Union and the Agence Nationale de Recherche, should enable you to take advantage of the schemes in place and carry out mobility projects within partner universities, with full or partial funding from the Université Bourgogne Europe.
