Roger Guillemin (1924), endocrinologist

Born in Dijon, he began his medical studies at the University of Dijon, before continuing in Lyon and then in Montreal, under the direction of the world-renowned Professor Hans Selye. He taught at the Collège de France and in the United States (notably in Houston), where he finally settled. Thanks to his work on hypothalamic hormones, he received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1977. And in 1978, he became Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Dijon.
