Jean-Claude Eicher (1929-2003)

This economist, specialized in the economics of educational systems at the time of his thesis, defended in Chicago under the direction of Theodore Schultz (Nobel Prize in Economics). After a first position at the University of Pnom Penh, he joined the University of Burgundy, where he took on many responsibilities. In particular, he created the Institute for Research on the Economics of Education (IREDU) in 1972 and was the first director of the Burgundy IUFM. The amphitheater of the Pôle AAFE bears his name.
