Francisco Komlavi Seddoh (born 1941), geologist

Born in Togo, he studied at the Faculty of Sciences in Dijon, where he became an assistant. In 1973, he defended a PhD thesis entitled Altérations des roches cristallines du Morvan, études minéralogiques, géologiques et micromorphologiques. Back in Togo, he was appointed professor of geology at the University of Lomé and became its rector (1986-1994). He joined the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for higher education programs in Africa, and then directed the Higher Education Division at the Paris headquarters from 1999 to 2004. Since 2013, he has served as a member of the Executive Board of the UNESCO.
