Fernand Desserteaux (1852-1938), legal scholar

After completing his studies in Dijon, he defended his law thesis in 1878 before sitting for the agrégation the following year. He spent his entire career at the University of Dijon as a Professor of Law, serving as Dean of the Faculty from 1913 to 1916. His work focused on criminal law and especially on Roman law, which he taught from 1883 to 1923. An amphitheater is named after him.
