Marcel Bouchard (1898-1977), rector.

Marcel Bouchard (1898-1977), rector.

Mr. Bouchard was initially Professor of French literature (18th century) at the University of Nancy before becoming Rector of the Academy of Dijon in 1946. Faced with the dilapidated state of the University, he decided to create a campus, the first building of which (the Faculty of Sciences) opened in 1958. Removed from his position in 1967, he acted more as president of his university than as a representative of the State (see his memoirs: Pour la Bourgogne, son Université, 1973; reedited 2008 and 2022).
