Alfred Young Fisher (1902-1970), American academic

After graduating from Princeton, he obtained a scholarship from the American Field Service to pursue his studies in France. From 1929 to 1931, he settled in Dijon with his wife to prepare a thesis entitled Introduction to a Study of Shakespearean Comedy, which he defended in 1931 under the direction of Professor G. Connes. Long afterward, his wife, M. F. Kennedy Fisher, would relate this chapter of their lives in Long Ago in France (French title: Une mariée à Dijon, Monaco, éditions du Rocher, reedited 2019).
