Student Numbers

In the first year of our university (1723), there were 133 students enrolled and under the First Empire, a total of 400 students in three faculties. Then, after a long period of stagnation, the number of students increased from 500 to more than 1000 during the period extending from 1895 to 1911. After the war, the number of students increased until 1931 (more than 1400 students), before declining again. Then everything changed. From 1200 students in 1946, we reached 10,000 in 1968, 20,000 in 1990, rising to 35,000 in 2020-21 (including 9,000 students from abroad).
