François Rebsamen (born 1951 in Dijon), French politician

As a student in Dijon, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in public law and a post-graduate degree in economics, François Rebsamen also pursued his passion for soccer during his university years. He quickly became involved with political figures from the Socialist Party (André Billardon, Pierre Joxe, Laurent Fabius, etc.). Elected mayor of Dijon in 2001, then president of Greater Dijon (now Dijon Metropole), he was also elected senator of the Côte-d’Or (2008-2014) and president of the Socialist group in the Senate from 2011 to 2014. A close collaborator of François Hollande, he was appointed on April 2, 2014 as Minister of Labor, Employment, Vocational Training and Social Dialogue in the Valls government.
