Described in the Edicts and Regulations, “The seal of the said University shall be quartered on the first and fourth in azure, sown with fleurs-de-lys in gold, with the border composed of silver and gules for modern Burgundy: on the second and third banded in gold and azure of six pieces, with the border in gules for ancient Burgundy, parted in chief on the first and second of modern and ancient Burgundy, supported in points in gules; over all: Bourbon Conde in azure with three fleurs de lys in gold, with a staff in gules on the diagonal, the crown fleur-de-lys, and the shield surrounded by the order of the Holy Spirit, the large shield stamped with a crown fleur-de-lys and the shield surrounded by the order of the Holy Spirit; the large shield stamped with a royal crown and for legend, SIGILLUM UNIVERSITATIS BURGUNDIAE MDCCXXII.
