Bernard Schmitt (born 1929 in Colmar-2014), economist

He obtained his PhD in Paris in 1958 with his dissertation on money and monetary income. He continued his studies on macroeconomic theory and analysis in Cambridge; he is the founder of quantum monetary macroeconomics. He became a lecturer and then a professor in Dijon, where he worked until his retirement in 1992. Among his many works and publications, Inflation, Unemployment and Capital Malformations (1984) is considered to be his masterpiece, containing the quintessence of his work. He was awarded the CNRS Medal twice, in 1961 (bronze) and in 1973 (silver).
