Roland Carraz (1943-1999), historian and politician

A history student in Dijon, he obtained the agrégation in 1967; assistant in modern history in 1968, assistant lecturer in 1978, he was elected mayor of the town of Chenôve in 1977 and remained in office until 1999. In his city, he instituted the minimum student income in 1989; he was a Socialist Party deputy for the Côte d’Or in 1981, 1986 and 1997, Secretary of State for Technical and Technological Education from 1983 to 1986, and was a promoter of the vocational baccalaureate. He died in 1999 at the age of 56.
