Elaboration and vote of the Sustainable Development, Social and Environmental Responsibility Master Plan

Université Bourgogne Europe has taken a new step in its commitment to sustainable development. After several months of reflection and consultation, the Schéma Directeur du Développement Durable, de la Responsabilité Sociétale et Environnementale (S3DRSE) was put to the vote and unanimously adopted by the University’s Board of Governors.

A collective project for a sustainable impact

The master plan was drawn up in response to a request from the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research in 2023. The master plan is a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary intervention plan. It is intended to cover all of the school’s activities. To achieve this, it has mobilised a wide-ranging consultation process involving all volunteer staff and even students. This participatory approach has enabled us to identify strategic priorities in line with the current environmental and societal challenges defined by the United Nations.

The main orientations of the S3DRSE

The plan is based on five strategic priorities:

  • Building sustainability governance and promoting an eco-responsible administration.
  • Train university staff in environmental and societal transitions.
  • Promoting research and innovation that is ethical, responsible and co-constructed with and for society.
  • Promoting an eco-responsible campus
  • Promote a human and social policy and the well-being of all.

Each theme is accompanied by operational objectives that are translated into different actions.

Progressive and ambitious implementation

With this master plan, the UBE is embarking on a sustainable and responsible path. Concrete actions will be gradually put in place, accompanied by monitoring indicators to measure progress and adjust initiatives if necessary. The consultation committee will monitor the various actions and develop the master plan over the coming years.

The university would like to thank all those who have contributed to the development of this ambitious project, particularly the network of DDRSE referents. Together, we are helping to build a more sustainable and responsible future.
