You are a national of a member state of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland

If you are a citizen of a country OUTSIDE the European Union, the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland and you are NOT an Algerian citizen
It is essential to check on the France Visas website whether you need to apply for a short-stay visa to enter the Schengen area, depending on your nationality. Some foreign nationals do not require a short-stay visa to enter the Schengen area.

If you need to apply for a Talent – chercheur (talent – researcher) short-stay visa to work in France, you will need a hosting agreement (Convention d’accueil) signed by your French employer to submit your visa application. To obtain this, you must first register on the Alfred Kastler National Foundation (FnAK) and have been officially recruited by a university or research centre in France.

To apply for your visa, you will need to provide a hosting agreement (Convention d’accueil) signed by your French employer. To obtain this, you must first register on the Alfred Kastler National Foundation (FnAK) and have been officially recruited by a university or research centre in France.
You are of Algerian nationality
You need a visa to enter the Schengen area.

To obtain a short-stay visa to work in France as a scientist-researcher (scientifique – chercheur), you will need a hosting agreement (Convention d’accueil) signed by your French employer to submit your visa application. To obtain this, you must first register on the Alfred Kastler National Foundation (FnAK) and have been officially recruited by a university or research centre in France.
You must apply for a long-stay visa for scientists and researchers (scientifique – chercheur).

When you arrive in France, you will need to apply to the prefecture (or sub-prefecture) of your place of residence for a residence certificate (mention Scientifique ) within two months of arriving in France. The certificate will be valid for one year for a first application.
